Sir, - The "pro life" peopled (aren't we all pro life?) are pressing for a new Referendum on abortion. A "yes" vote in the last would have ruled out abortion on the ground of the mother's threatened suicide, and if it is correct that abortion is never necessary for medical reasons to save the life of the mother, a "yes" vote would have outlawed abortion completely.
The pro life people, however, rather inconsistently campaigned for a "no" vote. The result is that the Supreme Court decision stands, and abortion on the ground of the danger of the mother's suicide is legal. - Yours, etc.,
