EIMEAR BERRY,
Madam, - Your edition of November 2nd reports the chairman of Ennis Town Council, Mr Peter Considine, as saying: "Ennis has been plagued with the Traveller accommodation problem".
Surely this must simply be a case of an unfortunate and mistaken juxtaposing of words. Given that the same report says that the Travellers are living in dirty and awful conditions with 12 families sharing two toilets, I feel certain that what Mr Considine really meant to say is that the Travellers of Ennis have been plagued with an accommodation problem. - Yours, etc.,

... ... * ... * ... * ... ...
Madam, - On page 2 of your edition of November 2nd there is a report about the plight of some Co Clare Travellers and the high cost of accommodating them in permanent housing. On page 4 there is an advertisement inviting readers to buy roosting pockets for birds. With all due respects to the entrepreneurial spirit which lies behind this item for us to spend our money on, would it not be better if we were to let the birds look after their own nesting practices and instead channel our excess wealth into support for accommodation for the homeless, those living on the roadsides, and so on? - Yours, etc.,
MARY BUCHALTER, The Grove, Kingswood Heights, Dublin 24.
