Madam, - I notice in the classified advertisements in your paper you continually allow some advertisers to print the phrase "Lady Owner", implying that the vehicle in question is somehow a better option than a male owned vehicle.
The acceptance of this practice in your good-standing paper further fuels the sexist viewpoint that male drivers are worse than their female counterparts - a view which leads to blatant unchallenged overcharging by insurance companies against male drivers based purely on their sex. In fairness to the feminist movement, if the situation was reversed they would not stand for it and they would be absolutely correct.
While I do understand that there are some statistics that support a sexual bias, there are some excellent male drivers in this country being charged higher rates of insurance purely because of their gender.
Just because something has statistics to back it up does not mean it is not sexist. Would young females of this country stand for higher health insurance premiums based on the statistic they are likely to have to go to hospital and have children and their male counterparts won't?
- Yours, etc,
