Sir, – Mike de Jong’s rejection of wind power outright (June 29th) is not a valid position unless he is willing to back an alternative.
Take your pick: nuclear; continued use of gas, coal and oil at current levels and deal with the diminishing supplies and climate change later; other sustainable alternatives; or somehow re-engineer society so we need less power. Ireland is in a very vulnerable position of being a high-energy user and being almost exclusively dependent on imports.
