Madam, - Seán Mac Connell fears the introduction of a super-strain broccoli more than another American invasion in the Middle East (An Irishman's Diary, September 19th). For his sake it is a pity that Bush Junior rather than Bush Senior is now at the helm in the White House.
The latter famously declared: "I do not like broccoli. And I haven't liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I'm President of the United States and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli".
Of course, he also knew when to pull out of Iraq. - Yours, etc,
