All my life living in the Connemara Gaeltacht I have watched its life blood, its people leaving to make their talents available in other jurisdictions. This drain of our most important resource is set to continue despite the economic turn.
We had a very obvious choice of minister, for the Gaeltacht in Eamonn O Cuiv, one with a proven record of job creation. Personally I feel short- changed. With Bertie Ahern's Cabinet selection we have another example of the perception that Connemara should be nothing other than a temporary haven from the stresses of the Pale - Yours etc._
