Madam, – I have to congratulate Isabel Morton (Property Supplement, April 14th) on her intelligent approach to the gathering of timely and relevant census information. She suggests that questions about square footage of homes, numbers of bathrooms, whether the property was owned or rented, in positive/negative equity, and the level of repayments or rental, might have helped us gain some worthwhile insight from the madness of our house obsessed “Tiger” years.
At the very minimum it would have helped us to contrast and compare Irish homes of now to those of 100 years ago and previous hard times – the difference, of course, now being that, as a nation at least, we can all boast that each of us has more than just one single pot to p . . s in!
