Madam, - In his latest response to the "eco-nuts", Michael O'Leary of Ryanair (July 17th) asks: "Why are we here in Ireland having record rainfall in June and July rather than heatwaves?" This speaks volumes about his knowledge of global warming and its effects.

Global warming represents a change in regional climates, not necessarily a global heatwave. Perhaps Mr O'Leary should have more respect for the people he is deriding, because with arguments like that, as well as the laughable idea that we should focus on "reducing the burden of taxation" on our children instead of being concerned about the future of the planet, he will quickly become a target of derision himself. - Yours, etc,
