Sir, – AA Ireland has decided to double the charge for missing a direct debit payment on its car insurance from € 10 to €20, with the option of increasing it even further to €30.
When I queried the need for the raise, I was told by a customer representative that the increase was to “bring us in line with our competitors”.
There you have it, competition Irish-style: make sure you are at least as expensive as your rivals. – Yours, etc,
