Sir, – Fine Gael TD Noel Rock wants to introduce legislation to end the practice of ticket touting for sports and music events. Why? Does he not understand that this is how the market works? What happened to the Fine Gael mantra “We can’t interfere in the market”?
Mr Rock should introduce a grant for fans attending a concert or sporting event for the first time. He should also introduce a loan scheme to help fans to borrow enough money to pay the exorbitant prices demanded by the touts.
If he needs any further advice, he should consult his colleague, Simon Coveney. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Much ado and annoyance has been expressed about the ticket touting for the U2 concert in Croke Park next July.
I see a very easy solution to this problem. Let those in authority enact and enforce Brazilian law on the matter. It would be solved overnight. – Yours, etc,
