Madam, - At last an admission that the pill, far from liberating women, "conveyed the message that women were sex dolls, permanently in heat, available 24/7 without any price tag" (Kathy Sheridan, November 20th).
Aside from any moral issue involved, this has always been the argument against contraceptives: women can be used without fear of the consequences.
As we all know, there is no such thing as a free meal. The question is to be asked is how much has to be paid. For women, in this instance, seemingly, too much. - Yours, etc.,
