Madam, - Am I the only one sick to death of being "advised" on what to do with the SSIA savings which I may have accumulated over the past five years?

All those who entered the scheme decided it was a good way to save some money, with a guaranteed return of 25 per cent for some and a share dividend for others who decided to take a bit of a risk.

Those who jumped in early are now about to reap the benefit of their own investment. I am quite sure they have their own plans for what to do with what is, after all, the product of good housekeeping on their part. They should not become the target of every investment guru and commercial salesperson as though they had no idea of what they entered into. For goodness sake, they had the intelligence and foresight to save the money in the first place.

For many, it may have set a welcome pattern of saving. Others will have accumulated enough money for some planned project. For some, it will be no big deal, just a little nest egg.

Really, my point is that people are being driven into a frenzy of thinking, "Wow, I've saved loads of money, I must spend, spend, spend". Let's face it: nobody will retire on their SSIA proceeds.
