Courses In The Maze

Sir, - The present British government's policy of rewarding terrorists and ignoring the victims has reached unparalleled levels over the past few years.

Figures released by the NI Voluntary Trust make disturbing if not interesting reading. Inmates of the Maze Prison near Lisburn were allocated £8,000 to fund a yoga training course and a flytying course. A further £14,000 was allocated to fund an advanced yoga and fly-tying course. As if this isn't bad enough, a further £3,000 was allocated for guitar lessons!

Now, I ask you, how can anyone not perceive the current "peace process" with anything other than disgust? I am sure the inmates of the Maze Prison will be sorry to leave behind all these interesting guitar sing-alongs and yoga seminars when their early release dates arrive.

These are yet more examples of the government's continuing appeasement of terrorists. In creating a country-club atmosphere within HM prison for paramilitary prisoners, this so-called "peace process" reaches farcical depths of absurdity.
