Madam, – Under the current tax regime, paid work is being disincentivised, the black market encouraged and the welfare system subject to both abuse and gross unfairness. To address this, every person (over 18 and entitled to be here) in the State should receive the dole regardless of whether they work or not and each person should get a medical card. Taxes can be adjusted accordingly to balance the finances. This scheme would treat everybody the same and incentivise work.
I have had enough of those with large salaries telling me how “fair” they have been, when I am now taxed beyond tenable and the dole queue seems to offer more than work does. – Yours, etc,
