Cross-City Luas

A chara, – As a resident of Dublin for going on 23 years, I too rarely had reason to venture north of the river Liffey. This had nothing to do with anything but a surfeit of laziness and a lack of curiosity. Why trek across the city when I could get pretty much anything I needed closer to home? So, apart from regular enough journeys to Croke Park, Dalymount Park and Tolka Park in support of the sporting giants of Cork, I generally stayed south of Grafton Street. No more. The Cross-City Luas has lately reminded me of the pleasures of lunch in any one of Parnell Street’s many excellent Chinese restaurants, of afternoon tea in the Gresham Hotel and of a late afternoon pint in the Flowing Tide, followed by a wander down Talbot Street. Then home on the Luas in 20 minutes. Dublin is, all of a sudden, a smaller and more manageable city, and all the better for it. Thank you to all concerned. – Is mise,
