Debate On Abortion

Sir, - If Robert Rochfort's letter (June 27th) is an example of the new, tolerant Europe, God help us

Sir, - If Robert Rochfort's letter (June 27th) is an example of the new, tolerant Europe, God help us. He knows the mind of "most European women" too!

Mr Rochfort should understand that being anti-abortion is, in fact, being pro-woman - looking to the well-being of both mother and baby. It's a sad reflection on our society that abortion is the solution we offer in unwanted pregnancies.

Certainly the baby was thrown out with the bath water. The values of "another era" displayed a certain unselfishness that is sadly lacking today. Now it's all "freedom" and "choice" - no matter that these infringe on the freedom and choice of others. Roll on a new era when the vast advances in science and information will be used to save and preserve life, rather then destroy it. - Yours, etc.,

Mrs Mary Stewart, Ardeskin, Donegal Town.
