Sir, - Writing from a completely non-medical background, perhaps someone would explain to me the reluctance of the IMO to have screening for its members. In my opinion, it should be compulsory for all doctors working in hospitals to be screened for Hepatitis B and HIV on being appointed, and thereafter at five-year intervals.

Isn't it time we stopped pussy-footing about AIDS? It is a contagious disease, and the public is entitled to feel safe in the hands of this caring profession. - Yours, etc.,
