Madam, - May I say how I have enjoyed all the articles and letters which have appeared in The Irish Times over the past six weeks on the 1916 Easter Rising?

Your readers may be interested to know that Dr John de Courcy Ireland wrote a very readable small book called The Sea and the Easter Rising 1916 which I feel was his best book. This includes the journey of Roger Casement and companions from Germany to Ireland in U19 which was commanded by Captain Raimund Weisbach, whom he described as a gentleman of the old school, who loved classical music and was a good musician.

John and his dear wife Betty were very, very good to me over many years.
