Dublin revisited

Madam, – I grew up in Dublin in the 1940s and 1950s

Madam, – I grew up in Dublin in the 1940s and 1950s. It was a wonderful city, easy to navigate and go from south to north and east to west.

Each returning visit dismays my soul. I find Dublin is a city of cafes, traffic lights, taxi cabs and almost stationary cars attempting to navigate a great maze of one way systems in streets made for the horse and cart not the motor car.

I am reaching the place when the prospect of going home for a visit discourages me. What attraction it has for the tourist I cannot imagine. – Yours, etc,
