Sir, – We have all seen houses left empty and deteriorating due to the rules of the Fair Deal scheme ("Up to 2,000 homes could be freed up for rental under Fair Deal changes", News, April 13th). These houses were desperately needed to alleviate our own housing crisis. How saddening and disappointing that it has taken a refugee emergency for the Government to take the action which was obvious to us all . – Yours , etc,
