Sir, – Further to Paul Robinson's letter (June 10th) on Edward Delaney's Famine memorial in St Stephen's Green Park, the Office of Public Works is planning to carry out maintenance works to facilitate the safe access and egress from St Stephen's Green Park at the northeast corner and to improve the environs of the sculpture.
These works consist of the removal of existing concrete paving slabs, which were laid in 1967, when the Famine sculpture was installed. These slabs are in poor condition and represent a potential trip hazard to the public. The paving Mr Robinson saw were samples which have now been removed. The planters have been there for some time. – Yours, etc,
COLETTE DAVIS,
Office of Public Works,
