Madam, - A few years ago, as the owner/director of an independent research consultancy, I was invited by FÁS to tender for one of its projects. After being shortlisted, I was ushered in to meet one of the directors. After 20 minutes of a patronising little lecture on how to run my (fairly successful) business, I was ushered out.
Given the current question-mark over FÁS's procedures ( The Irish Times, September 24th), I am very pleased that (a) I was not offered the contract and (b) I ignored the advice. - Yours, etc,
