Sir, – The article "Aran islanders to lose sole ferry service to Inis Mór" (December 15th) reached number four on the online "most read" list, and yet no letter relating to the issue appeared.
Do people not care about this? It seems clear that the Government does not. That it would allow this vital service to cease, jeopardising one of the richest Gaeltacht regions in Ireland, is reprehensible.
Sadly, this is just the latest failing of a Government whose approach to the Irish language and the Gaeltacht regions has been consistently characterised by a bare-minimum attitude and a lack of constructive engagement. – Yours, etc,
