Cork-born Jesuit Edmund Hogan who died 100 years ago on November 26th

Sir,– Further to Brian Maye's fascinating account of the life and work of the great Jesuit scholar Edmund Hogan (An Irishman's Diary, November 21st), it may interest your readers to learn that an updated edition of Hogan's major work on Irish placenames is currently being prepared in the Department of Early and Medieval Irish, University College Cork, under the title of Historical Dictionary of Gaelic Placenames. Six fascicles have been published to date, covering names beginning in A, B and C. The books are available for purchase from the publisher, the Irish Texts Society (irishtextssociety.org). – Yours, etc,
