A Chara, - Mayo is not the only county with grossly inaccurate signs in Irish (The Irish Times, September 11th).

Some weeks ago, while passing through the impressive new terminal at Cork Airport, I was faced with an enormous car-park sign containing the rather novel but staggeringly incorrect phrase: "Ná Slí Amach". After some investigation, I realised that this was supposedly an Irish translation of "No Exit".

I find it bemusing and frankly insulting that signage of this type is produced at so much expense, but with so little consultation with an actual speaker of the Irish language, of which there are many in Cork, Mayo and all over the country.
