Madam, - Jim Pickard's recent report on the battles of Larry Silverstein (Business This Week, November 5th) suggests that my master plan for the World Trade Center site was "overruled". In the context of our well-publicised debate on the "Freedom Tower", and its ultimate resolution, that is a puzzling and incorrect conclusion.
Mr Silverstein and his architect wanted to move the tower, alter its height and change its spire so it neither lined up with nor reflected the iconic shape of the Statue of Liberty's torch. On all of these three critical points, Mr Silverstein and his architect yielded, maintaining the integrity of the original vision of the master plan. - Yours, etc.,
DANIEL LIBESKIND, Rector Street, New York, USA.
