`Hello Money' And Superquinn

Sir, - Many friends tell me about the benefits of shopping with Superquinn

Sir, - Many friends tell me about the benefits of shopping with Superquinn. They praise the impeccable quality of the goods and the excellent service the staff provides. I am very interested in becoming a customer.

I live in Dublin 6W at an equal distance from Quinnsworth and SuperValu and very near many small shops. Because the nearest Superquinn outlet in Kimmage is slightly further away, I would need a little encouragement to change my shopping habits.

I have been made aware that suppliers are asked to pay small sums of money (between £500 and £5,000) to encourage Superquinn to provide shelf space for their goods and to keep prices down in the interest of the customer. I believe that, notwithstanding these goodwill contributions Superquinn is not cheaper than other supermarkets, but I accept that this has to do with the high quality of the goods which would otherwise have to cost even more.

I should like to suggest to Mr Quinn that he makes me a small goodwill payment of, let us say, £1,500. Once having received this sum I will make all my purchases in his store in Kimmage for the next five years. This sum ought to compensate me for the additional five minutes it takes me to get to Kimmage and for giving up visiting the small shops in my area. It would also help me to adjust my budget to the slightly higher prices Superquinn charges.
