Sir, – Tadgh Ó Foghlú (November 22nd) has a fundamental flaw in his argument.
He, and those to whom he refers, are repaying money they borrowed for their own purchases. The owner of the lending institution is irrelevant. We, Irish taxpayers, and through our taxes and levies, are repaying the loans of developers and foreign investors; money we didn’t borrow.
Paying back your own loans doesn’t buy you a vote! Paying back the State’s is a different matter. – Yours, etc,
