Madam, – If a flat rate of tax is levied and collected by the local council, will the same rate apply to houses in estates that have not been taken over by those councils?
Councils have avoided taking on responsibility for a large number of estates built over the past 10 years. Like many others, households in my estate pay fees to a management company for looking after common areas, including grass cutting, public liability insurance, street lighting and drain maintenance. Presumably, if I pay a household tax to my local council, it will take responsibility for this? If not, will I and thousands like me be paying the same as those in older estates that are looked after by their local authority? – Yours, etc,
