Madam,– Regarding the letter from Éamonn Mac Niallais and supporters (August 26th), English is the language of the vast majority of the Irish people. A lot of money is spent on the Irish language but one must be realistic. A spoken language evolves out of necessity and that necessity in the case of Irish has almost disappeared.
