Madam, - There have been reams of commentary on the possibility of Northern Ireland corporation tax being cut to encourage foreign direct investment.

But there has been no mention of the possibility that multinational companies will refuse to invest in the North because workers there have the right to union recognition where a majority wish it.

This glaring absence should be remembered the next time we hear Ibec, or the American Chamber of Commerce, or their friends in Leinster House prophesy that giving this right to workers in this State would lead to disinvestment, unemployment and a return to mass emigration. - Yours, etc,
