Sir, - Since the announcement of the election, and even before that, all the political reporters, pundits, commentators on radio and television are constantly telling us that they are "anticipating" this or that result, when what they really mean to say is that they are expecting it.
The media have become so addicted to their "anticipations" that I shouldn't be in the least surprised to be told that "Candidate X is anticipating a baby and when the election is over will take a rest to read Great Anticipations."
