Sir, – Further to Michael Foley's "Should journalists always protect their sources?" (Opinion & Analysis, March 13th), while Irish journalists may understandably wish to rely upon the National Union of Journalists' code of ethics that "[A] journalist shall protect confidential sources of information", they cannot expect the same protection to apply towards confidential sources of disinformation. – Yours, etc,
