Madam, – I concur wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed in David Adams’s excellent article (Opinion, October 7th). I also believe that the relentless negative media commentary (print, radio and television) is extremely damaging. It is terrifying the population and giving an extremely negative image abroad.
This is compounded by the continuous negative reiteration of our woes by the Opposition parties. They are the next government; they should act in the interests of the country rather than in the interests of their respective parties. We have a very high savings ratio. If people were less fearful, they might spend more and save less, thus increasing domestic consumption and hopefully, reducing the level of unemployment. – Yours, etc,
