Sir, - As an Ulster Protestant exempt (perhaps miraculously) from paranoia, may I be permitted to comment briefly on Fr Placid Nolan's letter (June 26th)?
Fr Nolan suggests that the British government should "put a total moratorium on all marches and public demonstrations in the province for the time being".
In principle, Fr Nolan's suggestion is unimpeachable. But is there not a practical problem regarding enforcement?
Hence my questions to Fr Nolan:

(1) Would he suggest the use of live ammunition?
(2) Or would plastic bullets suffice?
(3) Or would it be better, as being more humane, to adopt Mr Gabriel Rosenstock's suggestion (July 23rd, 1996): "grease the roads"? - Yours, etc.,
