Sir, – Michael O’Mara (March 12th) appears to give no credenceto the testimony of the Magdalene survivors; nor indeed to the Martin McAleese report; nor to the Taoiseach’s Dáil statement.
I am well over the age of 60 but I do not “agree wholeheartedly with the nuns” as Mr O’Mara suggests. However, I most certainly will listen to what they have to say if they wish to abandon their anonymity and tell their stories. But this “stoning” melodrama simply has no place in the discussion.
Does Mr O’Mara know something that the rest of us don’t; either about the Magdalene tragedy in general or about Sister A and Sister B in particular? Would he please tell us. – Yours, etc,
VINCENT Mac CARTHY,
