Sir, - I, like so many other Malahidians, waited expectantly for the extension of the DART, but those of us who are now using this so-called improved service have found that Iarnrod Eireann has given with one hand and taken away with the other.
The introduction of the DART has led to the withdrawal of many of the direct suburban train services, resulting in Malahide now being served by fewer trains than before. The so-called "peak time" morning service from Malahide now provides a train only every 20 minutes, or sometimes at longer intervals, and many of the scheduled evening DARTS fail to run or do not run according to the times tabled.
Perhaps those in Iarnrod Eireann who have rejoiced in this wonderful new service to Malahide would like to spend some time availing of it themselves before holding it high as a success story. - Yours, etc.,
Lisa Kane, Biscayne, Malahide, Co Dublin.
