Sir, - Patsy McGarry speaks of Mary of Magdala as a prostitute (May 15th). This view is very prevalent and has been damaging to both men and women. But there is no biblical evidence to support it. I wrote about this in a letter to you, published on September, 18th, 1993, and others have written elsewhere at more length.
