Sir, - U.N. High Commissioner Mary Robinson has been severely criticised by the Rwandan authorities for the conclusions she drew from her visit to the country recently. Some months ago, I was accused by the Rwandan Ambassador to London of distorting the facts of the human-rights situation in Rwanda. Now Mary Robinson is the recipient of the same accusations.
Mary Robinson is right. The Rwandan Government has a lot of questions to answer about its involvement in the continued slaughter of its own people. As an Irish organisation, we are proud of her courage in speaking out. - Yours, etc.,
