Sir, – I have just read about the new appointments to manage the Mayo football team ("Rochford given three-year term as new Mayo manager", December 1st).
Congratulations to them all. I’m just wondering, though, how the players will feel as they listen to the advice of their manager, then the instructions of the strength and conditioning coach, then try and interpret the words and mathematical tables of the team statistician and then go for a session with the team dietician, before finally making sure they understand the team’s logistical adviser? Has it really got this complicated to know how to put the ball over the bar or in the back of the net? Since 1951, that is! – Yours, etc,
