Sir, – First, may I congratulate all of our medal winners at the Paralympics; they thoroughly deserve their gold, silver and bronze medals. But to me, all of the participants are winners and each deserves to receive a medal for their courage and achievement.
What a proud souvenir it would be: a green ribbon and a medal around their necks. You just have to look at the 40,000 women who receive a specially-crafted quality medal after they complete the Flora women’s mini-marathon and to see the pride and joy on the faces of the participants.
Let Ireland be the first country to introduce a medal for all participants in the next Paralympics. – Yours, etc,
