Sir, – Joe Clancy (August 28th) is to be commended for his suggestion that naming rights might be applied to residences and streets.
There must be scope to bring this a step further and apply the same principle to towns and cities. For example, Birr might be able to link up with a fridge-freezer manufacturer, Cork with a wine brand, while Nenagh would have obvious attractions for an ambulance brand name. Rush should be able to find a suitable brand name fairly quickly, but there might be some apathy when Cahir seeks a sponsor. – Yours, etc,
