Madam, - I was delighted to read, that after 216 years, the London Times can now be purchased only in compact format, following the growing trend to relegate the broadsheet to history.
How much easier it is to manoeuvre the pages of a tabloid on crowded public transport, and for people like my disabled son to turn over the smaller pages (indeed he has given up reading broadsheet papers, as he can no longer handle the awkward size and shape).
Methinks it has now reached the point where The Irish Times should keep up with the times, and independently embrace the concept that small is beautiful; and de rigueur. - Yours, etc.,
W. ARTHUR DUTHIE, Loughlinstown, Dublin 18.
