Sir, – I decided to read about the work of Nobel laureate for medicine William C Campbell and searched the web. Darragh Murphy's interview had just been posted ("Meet Ireland's new Nobel laureate, William C Campbell", October 9th).
As I read it, I felt myself tearing up. He is an inspiration to all; a humble man who will not compromise his morals, his beliefs and his actions.
I am a nurse practitioner in child protective services. Nothing in life is perfect. With that realisation we can appreciate the small things and find happiness in giving, not expecting anything in return, and feeling good through being kind, caring and giving.
The interview with Prof Campbell had an impact on me and I will share it with others.
And like Prof Campbell, I also play a mean game of ping-pong. – Yours, etc,
GERALDINE WALSH,
New York.
