Sir, – The blatant off-the-ball jostling, attempts at physical intimidation and verbal “sledging” which feature in some inter-county Gaelic football matches prompt little respect for the game and even scant regard for those who play it, hence it is high time the GAA authorities ensured an end to this misconduct.
A nationwide directive from GAA HQ to referees and linesmen not to tolerate such behaviour would be a worthwhile and useful first step to that end. – Yours, etc,
