Oireachtas prayers

Sir, – I do not accept the arguments put forward by Ronan McCrea in "Dáil prayers have no place in an inclusive Ireland" (Opinion & Analysis, April 17th).

As a member of Seanad Éireann and a member of the Church of Ireland community, I personally value the few moments of time set aside at the beginning of each day for quite prayer and reflection.

Of course, parliamentarians do not have to attend or participate in prayer, as is their right.

Political and religious diversity is valuable and desirable, leading to greater knowledge, understanding, and peaceful coexistence. – Yours. etc,
