Sir, – I note (Front page, March 1st) that cuts of €721 million are planned in the health service budget. I note that the previous day the Government announced it was building a new motorway from Tuam to Gort, at a cost of €550 million (Home News, February 28th).
Can anyone in Government explain why so much is being spent on a motorway connecting two rural towns at a time when such drastic cuts are planned in the health system which serves all citizens? – Yours, etc,
