Sir, - The idea of members of the Orange Order parading in the heart of Dublin may at first seem startling but, on further reflection, what could be more desirable if we are to become a truly open welcoming Republic?

The Ireland of the future should protect the human rights of all who are on this island. We have nothing to fear from differences in people's religion, political views or ethnic background. If a member of the Orange Order feels comfortable and secure walking down Dawson Street, that will be no defeat for Republican ideals but rather a small step towards their practical fulfilment. - Yours, etc.,
