Sir, - I refer to a recent letter on this subject, which stated that if a patient is dentally fit he/she will receive treatment within a reasonable waiting period.
It may interest your readers to know that the current waiting period is 28 months in the case of children.
In some cases this can require parents with modest incomes having to borrow significant amounts of money to have the treatment carried out privately as the orthodontic condition requires treatment ahead of the waiting period. - Yours, etc.,
