Sir, – As is the sensible common practice elsewhere, Irish motorists should be legally obliged to park only facing the direction of travel. To do otherwise involves crossing traffic lanes and unnecessary risk to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. Such a change would certainly alleviate congestion and would likely reduce accidents. Given that implementing such a change would be almost costless and easily enforceable, surely such a change would be worthwhile. – Yours, etc,
